Diabetes Mellitus is a Hereditary Disease. It is basically a diverse group of disorders which are formed by increased blood sugar level. The diabetic patient are unable to digest blood sugar in their body becauglucose are passed out the body through their urine and they are unable to full-fill their energy requirements through glucose.
Side affects of Diabetes
The causes of diabetes is as follows:
- Kidney Failure
- Adult Blindness
- Lower Limb Amputation
- Heart Disease
There are two types of diabetes:
It is IDDM or insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. It is also called juvenile diabetes because it occurs in the age before 40 years. It occurs because of the deficiency of hormone insulin(pancreatic hormone). It is an auto immune disorder. The immune system backfires(opposite) and prepare auto antibodies against body own cells.T-cells of immune system attack pancreas and destroy ß cells and in result pancreas does not produce insulin. in this type of diabetes patient needs insulin from outside another source.
It is NIDDM or non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Almost 90% of diabetes patients have type 2 diabetes. In this type of diabetes some cells of pancreas produces insulin but they are unable to take glucose from blood . It occurs after the age of 40 years and is more common in obese. Obesity increases insulin resistance As exercise reduces obesity indirectly it increases insulin sensitivity and improves glucose tolerance.
Diabetes is Hereditary disorder
There is definitely exist a genetic component which have tendency to develop diabetes under certain environmental conditions.About 2% to 5% of adults get early diabetes almost in the age of 25 years .It is called maturity onset diabetes of the young(MODY). MODY can be inherited.
Genetic Basis Of Diabetes Type 1
The insulin gene is located on short arm of chromosome 11. Polymorphism and genetic variation are also responsible for type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 is not preventable because the problem is with immune system and type 2 is because of your genes and age which are uncontrollable but many diseases relate to diabetes can be controlled like blood pressure.
